at first I did not know it was your diary

I thought it was a very sad, handwritten book

bought some stuff today

After work, I went to the mall. I went to the mall because Haagen Dazs was giving free scoops of ice cream. But the line was too long and I got impatient looking at it, so I went to Forever 21 and tried on shorts.

Girls, lemme tell you something. There’s something you should know, and I’m gonna tell you right now. After college, your body… changes. Now I know everybody’s always saying “Oh I’m getting so old! I don’t have the same energy I used to!” That is a blatant lie. I can assure you that I am just as spry now as I was at approximately five months of age. I am just as quick on my feet as I was then, if not slightly quicker.

However, something happens to your hips. I have always been a size 0. Or an extra small. But today I was trying on those shorts, and I had to ask myself, “Why are these buttons so TIGHT?” and “Do these shorts come with any spare BUTTONS?!” Because wearing those shorts was like playing button roulette. At any given moment, a button might go shooting off into oblivion. Or likely into the underside of the dinner table, as I’m shoving the final piece of pie into my mouth.

That store does NOT make you feel forever 21. But you know what? I didn’t care. I walked out of there with two new pairs of size MEDIUM shorts and a spring in my step, feeling fresh and beautiful.

Now if I had gotten that ice cream, it might be another story…
